It isn’t just physical violence; domestic abuse includes any emotional, physical, sexual, economic / financial or psychological abuse. This course is intended to enable practitioners to develop informed and responsive interventions that support victims and prevent repeated abuse.

• To explore the complexities and dynamics of abusive relationships and it’s impact on victims
• To consider the cycle of abuse, a ‘victim’s journey’ and the reasons why victims stay in abusive relationships
• Explore gains and losses of leaving a relationship & Impact of Economic Abuse
• To challenge the common myths, stereotypes and social tolerance of the different forms of domestic abuse
• To identify practical tools to help support victims including Power & Control Wheel & Claire's Law
• Awareness of new legislation - Domestic Abuse Bill - Coercive Control
