Event/course summary Elklan's evidence based Speech and Language Support for 0-3s is our highly successful externally accredited training course which equips staff to develop these key communication skills in children proved to ensure later success in school. This is the only accredited training in speech, language and communication that is aimed specifically at those working with 0-3s.
Aims This course will:

- Build your confidence and skills to support the communication and language development of ALL children aged 0-3 years but especially those with SLCN

- Give you practical advice and strategies to support parents and families with whom you work.

- Provide settings with a highly skilled workforce to help narrow the gap and improve the life chances of young children.

- Give you an externally verified and accredited level 2 or 3 award. 
Learning outcomes - skills and knowledge By the end of the course participants will:

- Be able to identify those whose communication skills are delayed or disordered

- Develop a range of strategies to support all children but especially those with SLCN

- Be able to support families to support communication development

- Be able to assess and adapt their nursery or home environment to be communication friendly
Intended impact on practice Participants will be able to identify those children who need early support with developing communication skills as this can make a significant difference to the children in their care. The range of strategies learnt and practiced will ensure that there is a real carry over from theory to practical.
Additional event/course information **Important Information**
This is an accredited course. The cost of £330 INCLUDES £162 for materials, book and external accreditation.

Please note there is a homework component to this course and learners will complete an e-portfolio reporting on the use of strategies and activities that have been learnt in the classroom. There is about 1 hour a week - total 10 - 15 hours outside the classroom. It is expected that all participants complete a portfolio to receive a certificate. All sessions MUST be attended to complete the course.

The start time of 9:15 allows 15 minutes for registration and arrival.
Who is this event for? All early years staff and SENCo's working with 0-3 year olds.
All staff in nurseries, children's centres, SENCo's, early years settings, PVI's and Childminders.

Information about trainer(s) Joanna Hardman is the Clinical Team Leader for Speech and Language Therapy in Wandsworth. She has run over 25 Elklan courses and specialises in the Early Years. With her wide range of clinical experience she brings this course alive with examples from her own practice
