Event/course summary This three day course will assist you to develop leadership and management skills and enhance supervision techniques. Using a coaching approach expands thinking, deepens understanding and offers challenge and support to improve performance and well-being. We will use a variety of approaches and tools to look at leadership style, building your team, motivation, delegation, managing change and resilience in yourself and in others. The sessions will be a mix of input and practical activities enabling you to practice essential skills, reflect on what you do and develop your practice.
Aims This course will:

- Offer early years leaders time to reflect, and learn practical, tried and tested tools and approaches that support effective management and leadership

- Enable participants to develop and practice their coaching skills and techniques in a safe and confidential environment

- Enable early years leaders to recognise their own leadership styles and strengths and those of their team as well as sharing and learning from others

- explore the relationship between supervision, coaching and appraisal. 
Learning outcomes - skills and knowledge By the end of the course participants will:

- Identify and reflect on their own leadership style and strengths and those of their team, understanding what needs developing

- Apply fresh motivation to their management style, demonstrate delegation skills whilst positively motivating others and support others through change

- Be able to apply learned coaching and mentoring techniques to support and develop staff, effectively listen and provide constructive feedback

- Understand the key ingredients of resilience and develop confidence to have those challenging conversations that make a difference.
Intended impact on practice Participants will develop their coaching skills and gain confidence as a leader and manager, which will positively impact on the practices in their setting. They will move a step closer to being the best leader they can be whilst developing and sustaining outstanding provision for children.

Lead Trainer
Trainers Annie Davy / Tamsin Grimmer
Information about trainer(s) Annie is an adviser, writer and lecturer with over 20 years of experience in personal, professional and community development and educational leadership. After leading an award winning Early Years Service for Oxfordshire County Council for 12 years, she went freelance and now offers training, coaching and mentoring nationally an internationally. In 2016/17 she took on an interim position as Headteacher at Grandpont Nursery School and CHildren's Centre.

Tamsin Grimmer is an experienced early years consultant, trainer, author and part time lecturer at Bath Spa University who is passionate about young children’s learning & development. Tamsin particularly enjoys planning & delivering training & using a coaching style to support early years practitioners to improve outcomes for young children.
