Event/course summary This workshop provides pracitioners with the opportunity to build on their knowledge of attachment theory, focusing on how to use attachment ideas in direct work with children and their families. The workshop will explore observation and assessment of attachment styles and ways of working with families to promote secure relationships for infants and children.
Aims This course will:
- Increase practitioner knowledge of attachment
- Increase practitioner confidence in using their knowledge of attachment theory in their practice to help the children they work with
- Increase practitioner understanding of observation and assessment of attachment behaviours
Learning outcomes - skills and knowledge By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Use observations to understand attachment behaviours
- Identify approaches within their work which can promote more secure attachments
- Use attachment ideas when working with parents
Intended impact on practice Practitioners will be able to use child observations/assessments to identify concerns around attachment relationships. They will be able to use different approaches to support the development of more secure attachment relationships when working with both children and their parents.
Additional event/course information Practitioners attending are requested to have an observation or case in mind that they would like to discuss within the workshop.
Who is this event for? This workshop is suitable for all Wandsworth practitioners interested in working with infants and children from an attachment focus -
health visitors, Community Nursery Nurses, early years practitioners, outreach workers, those working in children's centres and nurseries.
