Event description
Gain practical knowledge, and discover tools and techniques to support children with autism or on the pathway to a diagnosis in your setting. A solid understanding of autism combined with practical strategies and resources for all practitioners working directly with autistic children in early years settings.
Training objectives
The training will support participants in:

  • understanding the key areas of developmental difference experienced by autistic children

  • understand the individual and how to profile their strengths and developmental needs

  • understand the importance of building positive relationships with and around the child

  • understand how to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual

  • understand how to make the environment more accessible to autistic children

  • develop practical strategies and techniques in promoting effective teaching and learning

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will:

  • develop their knowledge and understanding of good autism practice

  • understand the guidance and activities to improve your practice when caring for or working with a child on the autism spectrum

  • learn how to use the early years autism competency framework to evaluate and develop how you work
